About Us

Wit’s End Publishing is a small publishing house established in 2003 by JT Lindroos and Kathleen Martin. It published two titles by Charles WillefordThe Second Half of the Double Feature, a collection of Willeford’s short fiction and poetry, and a reprint of The Black Mass of Brother Springer which featured an introduction by James Sallis and included a previously unpublished play based on the novel.

In 2011 Wit’s End refocused its attention to electronic publishing, and is currently working on releasing a substantial number of Charles Willeford’s works as eBooks. 

BIOS

Kathleen Martin

Kathleen Martin is the co-founder and senior editor at Wit’s End Publishing. 

Her professional career began when she moved from Brown University, where she had received a full academic scholarship, to New York to study under Sanford Meisner at the Neighborhood Playhouse as a classmate of Jeff Goldblum’s. She also worked and workshopped with David Mamet at Goddard College, alongside William H. Macy

She worked professionally as an actor in Peter Schumann’s Bread and Puppet Theatre through her membership of Larry Gordon’s Early Music Ensemble (Village Harmony), in the Boston Shakespeare Company, and The South Bay Repertory Company.

Her leading roles include Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler, Amanda in Noel Coward’s Private Lives, Elvira in Blithe Spirit and she originated the role of Cassandra in the musical Cassandra.

She acted in numerous short films, including work for Academy Award-winner Michael Korolenko, but is best known for her work in the theatre and as a voice actor. Some of her notable voice acting roles include Robert Desiderio’s radio adaptation of Sartre’s No Exit and Ray Bradbury’s Dandelion Wine for Boston’s WCOZ. She also was a member of the Harvard University Choir, under the directorship and tutelage of John R. Ferris.

Behind the scenes, she managed the young people’s program at the Los Angeles Lee Strasberg Institute and was the managing director of the Chicago Trinity Square Ensemble Theatre.

Her verse and other writings have been published in Light Quarterly and other magazines.

More recently she voiced Janice Shriek in the short film adaptation of Jeff VanderMeer’s novel SHRIKE: AN AFTERWORD, which she took over from Linda Hunt. VanderMeer commented on her performance:  “I love Kathleen Martin’s evocation of Janice Shriek. I really can’t see her voice as sounding any other way now.”

JT Lindroos

JT Lindroos is the co-founder and art director of Wit’s End Publishing. 

He is a Finnish born, naturalized American designer, publisher, editor and writer.

As a freelance artist and designer, he has created covers for literally hundreds of books. His conceptual designs grace the walls and lobbies of many Fortune 500 companies. 

His writings on music, movies, books and many other subjects have appeared on Billboard.com, iTunes, Interzone and All Music Guide.
